Just to close the loop on this and close out this bug report.
After long delay getting database sent to Jim, the bug of wrong text getting copied into selected record under these particular circumstances was confirmed and bug was fixed. Great. On other issue of field text not always getting saved, advice was, make sure to hit Enter or save, try to stay on same form, always good to do for sure.
