Return in Pop Up Editing empties the field?

I have a Details field that often has very long text. In the record I’m editing at the moment, it has about 350 lines.

In the data sheet view, when I tab into the field, press the right arrow key to get to the bottom of the field, and press return to enter a new line, it works great.

In the graphic/form view, I’ve got the field set to display 3 lines. I have it set with Pop Up Editor selected/enabled, and under Termination Keys, only Tab is selected; Return and Up/Down arrows are deselected.

When I tab into this field in Form view, if I press arrow to get to the end and type a few regular characters, it works fine, but if I press return to add a new line to the field, it empties the field and all my previous text is gone.

Am I doing something wrong, or is this a bug?

Thank you.

It’s probably all selected when you press Return, which should delete it all.

In Graphics Mode, check the Text Editor Options. Then check the setting for Initial Selection to be sure you have it set for “at End”

Thanks for the reply … but that isn’t it.

As I mentioned, if I press right arrow to get to the end and then type a few words, it works as expected. It only deletes the contents if I type a return after getting to the end.

I tried changing Initial Selection, as you suggested, but unfortunately, that didn’t fix the problem.

That did lead me to trying some other things, though, and it looks like it’s related to the Pop Up Editing option. If I have Pop Up Editing turned on, the problem happens - typing return in the field causes data loss; but if I do not have Pop Up Editing turned on, it works pretty much as I expect and I can enter returns into the field.
