Let me start by commending you for telling us what version you are using. That allows me to immediately diagnose why you are encountering difficulties. If you had left off the version number, it might have taken quite a bit of faffing around to figure out the problem.
Now let me scold you for using a beta version that is over FOUR YEARS OLD! There have been 34 versions released since the early beta version you are using. Inability to connect to the current version of provue’s server is a known problem of early 10.2 betas. Also, this is an early beta (from 2021), of course it sometimes quits unexpectedly.
The version you are using is so old that it cannot auto-update to the current version. What you need to do is IMMEDIATELY throw the version you have in the trash, then manually download and install the latest version from provue.com. For your convenience, here is the direct link to the download.
In the future, I recommend that you promptly install new Panorama X updates when they are available. This goes double when you install a new version of macOS. You’re using the latest version of macOS with a four year old (almost five) copy of Panorama X.
I note one small “feature”. Where it used to require a single click to select a data element now when requires double click to open.
I have no idea what you are referring to with this statement. There is no change in how data elements are selected. In the data sheet, one click selects a cell, a double click opens the cell for editing. It’s worked that way since 1984, and has not changed.
Thanks and jeez, checking for updates told me I was using the latest version. I did download the update but there linger earlier versions on my computer and I evidently opened the older version. I appreciate your prompt reply and with red face will try and sort this out. Thanks
checking for updates told me I was using the latest version.
That’s expected.
About three years ago we had to change the protocol that Panorama X uses to get information about updates from the provue.com server. Because of this, the check for updates feature no longer worked when you were using earlier versions of Panorama X. This was related to the fact that these older versions would tell you that they could not connect to the internet. At the time this happened, we sent an email to every Panorama X customer instructing them to manually perform the update immediately. Because of the urgency, I think we may have ultimately sent multiple emails about this, and it was also discussed extensively on this forum.
Ok, I found the forum post discussing this, it happened in October 2022. So I was pretty close in remembering that it was about three years ago.
If you’re interested in the technical details, there was another post covering that in great detail.
Since that Oct 2022 interuption, the Check for Updates feature has worked smoothly, and should continue to do so going forward.
