Turning a Mac Microphone On or Off in a Procedure

I’m becoming ebullient on using Mac dictation for some data entry. Is there a way to turn an internal microphone (or external!) On or OFF in a procedure?

I know I can do it with a hot key but that’s an extra step.

There’s nothing built into Panorama to do that.

However, if it can be done with an AppleScript, or with a Shell script, then that can be triggered from a procedure. So if you can find something like that, the answer will be yes. I don’t know of such a thing or where to look, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.

I think there is no faster way to switch dictation on/off than the key( combination)s that macOS is offering. You find them in System Preferences > Keyboard > Dictation.
