Spinning Beachball when bringing Pano to the front?

This is a crossover question between Classic and Pano X…

Using Classic, I have found that after I have moved from one network to another, when I open up my portable computer and attempt to bring Panorama to the foreground, I get a spinning beachball until some aspect of Panorama throws an AppleScript error after a timeout. This appears to happen only if I have also left a network drive mounted from the previous network. After I recognize that Panorama is attempting to do some sort of network communication, I manually disconnect that previous network drive from its place in my sidebar, and then Panorama Classic then loses it beachball and I can begin my work. What is Panorama attempting to do prior to losing its beachball?

Is Pano X also afflicted by this interaction with the Finder or network?
