Relating in Panorama

Years ago, Jim Rea was showing me a soon to be released new version of Panorama (3?). He was clearly delighted to point out that it included a new feature he referred to as “arrays”. Even after a bit of an explanation, I couldn’t see what was so exciting about them or how they’d be applied to anything.

In the interim they’ve become one of the most used, most appreciated features in Panorama as far as I’m concerned. Considering all the tools in this toolbox, that’s saying a lot.

Now the writing is on the wall about an eclipse taking place; relations. The more I use them the more useful I find them. The speed and ease with which I’m able to obtain information from other databases is nothing short of incredible. I’m still learning, but I’m finding ways to nest relations in very complex formulas and Pan X is taking them just fine.
