Whatever might set a database to Read Only, I don’t think I did.
It’s a shared database that wasn’t able to establish a connection to the server when it was opened. You would have seen a notice at the time it was opened.
At the risk of stating what is already known, on rare occasions I have received this message. Upon checking Server Administration, I have found the DB was offline. I was not sure why it was offline, and I am not suggesting something malfunctioned, but simply putting it back online solved the problem.
