Panorama no longer launches Panorama Server for me, and I’ve been completely unable to resolve it.
In the Server preferences panel I’ve checked and unchecked the Relaunch, I’ve used Reset to Factory Defaults. I’ve deleted and reinstalled Panorama. I’ve run utilities and virus scans.
Yet Panorama never launches Panorama Server when the computer starts up or when Panorama is launched. It does launch if I click on Start Panorama Server.

It’s been a while since I dealt with this, so I had to read the documentation to remember how it works. The documentation says to add Panorama X Server.app to the login items. This will cause the server to launch automatically when the computer boots. If you have the Automatic Relaunch option enabled, the server will then notice that Panorama itself isn’t running and launch it.
According to the documentation, there is no option to automatically launch Panorama Server when Panorama is launched. My recollection is also that this was never an option. I could be remembering wrong, I didn’t check the source code just now, but I think the behavior you are describing is the way it has always worked.
What got me started on this is that I often launch a client, and it doesn’t connect because Panorama Server is not running. The server is very rarely restarted, and I have no idea why Panorama Server has quit running, but it should get relaunched.
I can manually launch it and it runs seemingly endlessly without issues. But then, as this morning, I open a client and Panorama Server is not running.
When I read your first email I thought you were saying that you were simply expecting Panorama Server to launch automatically when you double clicked on PanoramaX.app. It doesn’t work that way.
Yet Panorama never launches Panorama Server when the computer starts up or when Panorama is launched.
To me this paragraph in your original post tells me that you have configured your system to launch PanoramaX.app automatically on login, and you are expecting it to then launch PanoramaServerX.app. As described in the documentation, that’s exactly backwards from how it must be set up. What you need to do is configure your system to launch PanoramaServerX.app automatically on login. Then if the Automatic Relaunch is turned on, the server will automatically launch PanoramaX.app.
Panorama Server is not running. The server is very rarely restarted, and I have no idea why Panorama Server has quit running, but it should get relaunched.
This sounds like a different scenario than you first described. Are you saying that the server computer has not rebooted, and that PanoramaX.app is still running? If that is the scenario, then yes, PanoramaServerX.app should have relaunched automatically, assuming that the * Automatic Relaunch* option is enabled. From the information provided, I have no idea why it wouldn’t have relaunched.
A wild stab in the dark here - you are the only person with access to this server computer, right? There isn’t any chance that someone else could have come along and manually shut down Panorama Server? That would fit the described symptoms. If someone explicitly shuts down the server, that overrides the Automatic Relaunch option.
If there is any possibility that someone else has shut it down, I would suggest that you set up the logging to keep track of Startup & Shutdown. If someone has shut it down, there will be a Shutdown entry in the log. If it crashed, there won’t be any such entry.
