M4 Chip Speed Bump

Just set up my new iMac M4 for the office management system. I’m very happy to report that the speed increase from the M1 computer to the M4 is very noticeable. As I’ve reported before, my databases are heavy on graphics and lookups but rarely do I perform serious data manipulation.

Moving between calendar pages has gone from 2 seconds to 1 second
Displaying a patient account going back to 1999 has dropped from 4 seconds to 2 seconds. Overall snappy navigation through the screens.

Other than the speed bump, I haven’t seen any other problems in preliminary testing.

Is the the “basic” M4 chip or the Pro version?

This is on the iMac, which only comes with the basic M4 chip.

I also set up my home/development Mac mini yesterday with the M4 Pro. I can’t tell any difference from the regular M4 for my application, despite the faster single core specs and the faster memory.
