I have brought some Panorama 6 files into the latest version of Panorama X. Some fields have formulas. When I click on a cell for the field with a formula, the formula executes. But when I go to Field Properties, and select Formula for a field with a formula, no formula is visible. Is there a solution?
Panorama 6 had two modes for calculations - “spreadsheet” mode and “procedure” mode.
In spreadsheet mode, each field had ONE formula that specified how to calculate that field.
Qty * Price
In procedure mode, each field had one or more assignments that specified how to take the value in the current field and calculate other fields from it.
Amount = Qty * Price
Total = Tax + Amount
In Panorama 6 you had to pick one mode or the other for all fields. You couldn’t mix spreadsheet mode for some fields and procedure mode for other fields.
Panorama X lets you use either mode on any field. You can mix and match as you like. To accomplish that you’ll see both Formula and Code in the field properties.
When a Panorama 6 database is imported into Panorama X, it checks to see which mode was used in the Panorama 6 database. If it was spreadsheet mode, the formulas are placed into the Formula property. If it was procedure mode, the assignments are placed into the Code property.
Long story short, if you click on the Code property you’ll find your assignments.
