Expand/Shrink Different from Pan 6

In Pan 6 when a Text Display item had expand/shrink checked, it would make a line that ran through it disappear when the Text Display shrank and disappeared. I’m wondering if there is any way to get the same behavior in Pan X.

In the first clipping below, the upper two records don’t have a Note field entry, so the text display shrinks and disappears, but the line that runs across it stays. In Pan 6 that would have disappeared along with the Text Display. The lower 3 records show how the Note has expanded the tile to display in the report.

The second clipping is from Pan 6 using the report elements and layout, but when Note=“” and its text display disappears, it takes the line with it.

I know this is a minor formatting issue, and could live with it, but wondering if there is any way to get the record divider line to disappear when Note=“”. Visually, scanning the daily report, the divider line indicates a record with a Note attached while ones without a Note are tight together in a block.

Based on your screen shots it looks to me like there was a bug in Panorama 6 which is now fixed in Panorama X. Sometimes one person’s bug is another person’s feature.

Jim - Thanks for clarifying that this is now as you would expect. I’m not sure this is a fix, though (with all due respect if you think I’m asking for what might have been a bug that is now fixed).

I just experimented with a shrinking Text Display that overlapped the row of text elements and the divider line in my report. When the text was empty, that Text Display shrank away and took the entire row of 15 texts in the row, but the lines that also overlapped did not go away. The result was a report that is mostly lines. See clipping below

In the help file for variable height records, the text seems to indicate that making any object disappear is what would be expected when it straddles a shrinking object:

“Object C straddles the orange line, so it also expands and shrinks. If it shrinks too much it will disappear completely! (Of course that could be exactly what you want.)”

This IS exactly what I would want. So then, are line elements behaving different from text displays and other graphic elements that would disappear when overlapping a shrinking item?
