Can't get backups

Working on some critical files (Tax!!) and I lost some data (bad formulafill). When I try to get an older backup version, panorama quits, and the only one left to reopen is the bad one. Is there a special technique to retrieving backups (or restoring bad files)?

What do you mean by “older backup version”? How were these backups created?

Perhaps you mean the File>Revert To>Browse All Versions? menu item? This is actually an Apple feature, there’s no ProVUE specific code at all, so I can’t provide much guidance if you run into a problem. However, some users have found that this feature works better if only the data sheet is open. So you might try closing any form windows before using this feature.

If you’re using Time Machine, you should be able to use that to recover older versions of any file.

I imagine it’s too late now, but if you noticed the bad formula fill right away, you could recover immediately with Undo. Though perhaps not if the formula fill was in a procedure. It is possible to write your procedures so that Undo will work, that would be a very good idea for a procedure that is possibly destructive.

Again, probably too late now, but when I do potentially destructive work on a critical file, I would usually make a copy in the Finder just in case. To paraphrase the old saying, backup twice and cut once.
