After having created a working relation between 2 databases, I am finding that the Auto Join only works when the matching key record in the Source db is one of the currently selected records.
If the matching key record is not currently selected, the related data is not brought into the current db. If the desired matching key record is one of the current selection in the Source db, then the Auto Join works as expected.
There are no Subset Options being used.
I do not see in the Help file that the current selection of records in the Source db should matter.
That’s your answer. You need to check the Include Invisible Data option just below the Source subset formula box. The default is to not include invisible data.
Ah. I did try the Invisible checkbox but I also did miss that there was a 2nd invisible checkbox for the Source.
Much better now.
The Help file might be more clear to specifically state that unless the Invisible box is selected, then any unselected records will be ignored in the Auto Join or Join. Or a warning to ensure that All Records should be selected. Without any warning, I expected all records to be examined. I do recognize that the ‘Invisible’ is another tool. So many tools. So many ways to cut oneself.
