Curious if anyone has found a way to invoke the apple AI writing tools (including the ChatGPT, if activated) from a form yet… once I have a calculated text composition from the database, it’d be neat if I could pass a prompt to the “Compose…” function of the writing tools, such as “write a tweet for this” and store the output in a field. Then pass another prompt to “Compose” function and store that in another field. Or, use the AI summarize function and store it in a field, etc…
If Apple released command line (shell) tools to access Apple Intelligence this would be easy to do, but so far there is no sign of this. Here’s a Redit thread where basically this same question was asked,
You may not know it, but Summarize has been built into Services for a long time, and Services now work with Pan X. I do not know whether there is some method of accessing Services via a script, however. I really appreciate that Panorama works with Services now.
That Summarize may work better than the AI version. It was something that Apple was very proud of when it came out.
Thanks – I do know that, but I do not need the summarize – instead, I want to pass along a pre-set series of prompts to the compose function given a calculated field of text. Sooner or later, it will be possible to pass prompts along the scripting bridge or something like that – was hoping someone may have already discovered a way to do this. For now, I have to select the text, right-click, paste the primpt, and see if I like it – what I’d reather do is make a button to run the prompt and plop the result into a field. If I don’t like the result, click the button again and get another, etc.
Nice – thank you for confirming – the UI for the writing tools is a clunky mess at the moment – reflecting the bit of a mess Apple made of this in its hurry to ship – I mean, ios and ipados mail app cannot even fetch IMAP messages right now (!) So I’m not convinced they’ve allowed anyone with a brain to round out the AI writing tools yet! hahahaha
