Alert boxes appear in translucent form after error occurs

The two messages below were generated inside an if error block after manipulating some binary data:

Panorama X was frozen at this stage. When I find out what caused the error, I can let Jim know - it may be of interest or he may have more important things to do (I think that’s a definite possibility).

And here’s an interesting variation, where the alert box is extremely small as well as translucent:

As far as I can gather, these translucent boxes appear when a non-existent field is referenced within an ifselect construct. I’ll look more closely at this when I have time but I have no objection to anybody else doing the same.

I just tried this, and I get a regular error dialog.
