Welcome to the official discussion site for Panorama! This is the go-to spot to learn and share about using and programming Panorama databases. You'll find topics on features, bugs, development, and general support here. It's a great place to share ideas and find solutions to problems. Or just lurk in the background and pick up valuable tips and tricks. This forum is monitored by everyone at ProVUE, including the programmers and even the company president, and there is also a friendly community of Panorama users at all skill levels.
Learning About Discourse
I'm really excited that this forum is hosted using Discourse. If you are used to email based discussion, Discourse brings modern web and mobile technology to community discussion (you can, however, customize your account to work via email as well as thru the web if you like). I'm really excited about bringing Panorama discussion into the modern world with features like flexible formatting (including Markdown), mobile & tablet support, topic summaries, real time notifications, advanced image handling, automatic URL embedding, file attachments, link tracking, polls, wiki posts, private messaging, groups, revision history, community moderation, spam blocking, the list goes on and on. See Discourse Features to learn more about these features and many more.
It's not just about technology though -- it's clear that the authors of Discourse have given a lot of thought to the details of on-line conversation (one of the founders of Discourse, Jeff Atwood, was also a developer of the popular Stack Overflow programming discussion site). Here is a short (7 minute) video that teaches the basics of using Discourse, including setting up email preferences (you can even turn off all email if you like).
(Note: The Mozilla forum shown in this video is configured a bit differently than the Panorama forum, in particular, the Panorama forum uses your email address and password to log in, instead of Persona. Also, the Panorama forum currently does not have any subcategories.)
Discourse allows you to format the text in your posts (bold, italic, lists, images, links, etc.) using the popular Markdown formatting language. If you're not familiar with Markdown, here's a quick tutorial. By the way, this page was formatted using the Markdown language.
