Panx won't open an alias procedurally

i’ve found that panx won’t open an alias procedurally. the command is opendatabase; i’ve also tried openfile with the same results. when i try it i get this error:

Canot open database “Macintosh HD:Users:sam:panx:item17.pandb”:“item17.pandb” could not be handled because PanoramaX cannot open files in the “alias” format.

i can open it by double clicking or with the open menu.

is this considered normal?

The openfile statement opens database files, text or variables only.
If you want to open an alias, use the openanything statement.

I haven’t verified the original problem, but if true – that is a bug. It should be able to open an alias.
